One of
the world’s natural resources that can be recycled and used for different
applications is steel. From the iron ore
that is mined from the ground, steel is formed by smelting the ore in blast
furnaces to remove the impurities present.
Carbon is then added to the smelted iron ore to form steel.
There
are different types of steel that are used for different applications. Among
these types are carbon steels, which are said to account for an estimate of 90%
of total steel production. Alloy steels,
on the other hand, are used in applications such as auto parts, pipelines,
transformers, electric motors, and power generators; while, stainless steels
are used food processing equipment, cutting tools, kitchen utensils and
piping. Tool steels are another type of
steel that are used for making cutting and drilling equipment.
Different
sectors require the use of steel and thus need steel suppliers for different applications in construction,
transport, energy, packaging, appliance and industry. Majority of steel
however, are used in the construction industry. The versatility of steel allows it to be
used in different construction applications from low to high rise buildings,
security fencing, residential homes, sports stadiums, office and commercial
buildings among others. It is also used
to reinforce concrete especially in the construction of houses and buildings.
To
ensure that the steel used for construction or any of the different
applications, it does matter where a contractor gets the steel for their
projects. Make sure that the products of
your steel suppliers passed Quality
Assurance for your security and credibility in the industry.
